Will Light Therapy For Healing And Pain Relief Help?
You may wonder what light can do for you besides make it easier to walk around, but the fact is that light therapy for healing and pain relief is used all over the world with sometimes startling results. Too many benefits of shining different lights on parts of the body have been documented to dismiss this treatment as nonsense.
Even the FDA of the United States, an agency charged with examining drugs and treatments for safety and effectiveness, has approved some forms of light therapy. One such is exposing patients to focused blue light, to treat acne. Used in the doctor’s office or home for fifteen minutes twice a week, a DPL led therapy system destroys bacteria that damage the skin.
No negative side effects were reported in any of the studies that were done prior to this treatments approval. This therapy is far safer than antibiotics, which destroy parts of natural immunity and limit sun tolerance. In fact, sunlight is known to help clear up acne, so now light can work in two ways to solve this problem. The blue light used in the treatment is isolated from other ‘bands’ of light (think of the layers of color in a rainbow), especially potentially harmful ultra-violet light that can harm skin if used for too long or used too intensely.
A great introduction to this subject is given in “Color Me Healthy” by Robert Jay Rowen, MD. Dr. Rowan describes many uses for light, including blood irradiation with red, a process that sounds scary and is not recommended for helping hands at home, but is actually a safe and effective course of health care.
Frequencies are actual forces we all are aware of, even if we don’t really understand the physics. Music, magnets, and homeopathy all work by frequencies, and are all recognized for the health promoting benefits they offer. For example, acupuncture influences health by stimulating certain points in the body, interrupting or stimulating the flow of blood and other fluids. The frequency of a focused beam of red light applied to these points can have a marked effect on swelling, pain, and total body health. Many horse owners have a ‘wand’ they use to treat their equine friends.
Too long a wavelength for the human eye to see, infrared light penetrates skin and tissue, taking healing heat deep inside to stimulate circulation. This results in increased oxygen and nutrient delivery to damaged cells, and faster removal of toxins. The treatment also promotes detoxification through the skin via perspiration. Infrared saunas promote whole body cleansing and are used in many European clinics.
An Indian doctor of the 1800s studies the theories of light therapy of the day and ended by creating his own system that he call Spectro-chrome. Dinshah Ghadiali, dissatisfied with current medical practices, writes of many hopeless cases being cured by light. His first experience was a last ditch attempt using a kerosene lamp and a glass bottle, indigo in color. The patient lived and the rest is history.
So now what? Get a pretty piece of glass and a bright light? Well, with a little education to go along with it, that might be enough. There are kits that have all the isolated colors on easy to use film patches. There are licensed practitioners who know all the ramifications of using the healing power of light. But in emergencies, follow the example of many over the years and use what is at hand, especially blue and purple glass, which both have wide applications.
This brief introduction to light therapy for healing and pain relief will hopefully get you to look farther into the tested and trusted area of healing in natural light.
Sienna Langspot just started using her DPL therapy light system, and is already experiencing results. She writes for companies such as Better Health Innovations, a leader in infrared light therapy.
